Job Status: This position is full-time. HRDC also offers flexible schedules and a "reduced work week", which encourages full-time staff to use up to 4 paid hours weekly for their personal wellness.

General Summary of Purpose of this Position:

Under the general supervision of the Food Bank Operations Manager, the Food Bank Food Rescue Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of pick-up and delivery of food products in the community including volunteer and Food Rescue Driver routes, maintaining a professional representation of the Food Bank at all times. Responsible for the training and supervision of volunteers performing food rescue operations. The job exists to facilitate a constant and adequate supply of food for the food bank including restaurant rescue functions and program development. Consults with Operations Manager regarding any potential donor/supplier relationship problems. Performs other duties as required.



Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Food Rescue (40%)

Operates and coordinates the use of Food Bank vehicles in a safe and prudent manner.

Coordinates and performs pick-ups and deliveries of food products from local grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, and other food sources including activities of food rescue driver and volunteers under general supervision of Operations Manager.

Development of restaurant rescue program including system of ensuring food safety, efficient storage and transport, and appropriate food preparation and packaging for distribution through Fork & Spoon Kitchen and the food bank food box program.

Reports any accident or incident, no matter how minor, to the Operations Manager and/or Food Bank Director

2. Grocer Relations (10%)

Establishes & maintains good working relationships with grocer and restaurant managers and staff.

Maintains verbal/written agreements with grocers and food distribution sites to adhere to all food safety standards.

Works toward improving grocer relations to increase food gleaned.

3. Volunteer Management (10%)

Trains, supervises, and maintains schedule of volunteers in performance of food and restaurant rescue activities, including donation/purchase collection from commercial and private sources, adhering to appropriate food safety standards, maintaining thorough inventory records, and appropriately representing the food bank in the community

Reinforces training and supervision of volunteers in the performance of warehouse functions in coordination with the Operations Manager.

4. Vehicle Maintenance (10%)

Maintains all Food and Nutrition fleet vehicles and equipment in conjunction with Food Rescue Driver

Performs daily inspection and required maintenance of vehicles and equipment;

Fuels vehicles and checks oil, tires, lights, wipers and general vehicle condition;

Cleans vehicle to maintain a professional level of appearance;

Assures maintenance of vehicles and equipment is performed at required intervals;

Assesses potential vehicle or equipment problems and consults with Operations Manager before taking further action;

Reports any vehicle deficiencies to Operations Manager.

5. Warehouse Support (10%)

Works with Warehouse Coordinator and Operations Manager to keep warehouse and store stocked. Assists with sorting donations.

6. Data entry (10%)

Performs other duties as assigned by Operations Manager including project estimation and supply procurement, serving as food bank representative for projects related to food rescue and recovery, and various other warehouse and event functions.

Maintains food inventory logs, volunteer hour data entry, commercial donation records, and correspondence.

7. Partner Liaison (5%)

Communicates with and delivers food to community Partners such as One Health, Help Center and local Libraries

Act as Liaison for Homeward Point regarding food. Collect and deliver foods appropriate for Homeward Point guests

8. Organizational engagement (5%)

Attends monthly all-staff meetings

Reads employee communications and weekly newsletters

Participate in trainings and wellness days when available
