DESCRIPTION:
Stories are remembered up to 22 times more than facts alone, but sharing someone else's story comes with responsibility. When client and participant stories become case studies or fundraising appeals without care, the people at the center can be flattened into props for someone else's message.
This session explores how nonprofits can gather and share stories ethically, in ways that empower the people at the center of them while still helping donors connect with and remember your work. You'll leave with practical tools for choosing the right storytelling mediums and involving the people you serve as active collaborators in their own stories.
WHO SHOULD JOIN:
This session is ideal for executive directors, development teams, and program staff. All nonprofit staff, board members, and volunteers are encouraged to attend.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
The workshop will be led by Erica Coyle, a former executive director in the nonprofit field and now the founder and principal at Elevation Strategies. Erica's philosophy is that organizations are most efficient, effective in fundraising, and resilient when they intentionally center the voices of those they serve. She brings over 15 years of fundraising and leadership experience in the nonprofit sector and loves working with organizations that are ready to take their next courageous leap forward.
